What to do right after an accident

After a traffic accident, the first 30 minutes matter a lot. Stay calm and follow these steps.

The 5 key steps

1. Secure the scene: hazard lights, triangle, vest. People first.
2. Photograph everything: car positions, damage, plates, signs.
3. Other party’s details: name, insurer, policy number. Don’t admit fault.
4. European accident report: fill it in together.
5. Call the police if there are injuries, disagreement or major damage.
